LAIB 4000 - Spanish Study Aboard Internship

  • One of the best experiences, this program allowed me to apply business Spanish in real‑world contexts while strengthening cultural competence and industry skills. Attending the University of Santiago for half a semester learning about the history and culture of Spain and the city itself. The other half was hands-on professional experience working through an internship at a local Hotel called Mexico PR. 

SPAN 3020 - Intermediate Spanish Grammar and Composition

  • The course was taught in spanish and covered intensive review of spanish grammar, including verbs, idioms, vocabulary and principles to strengthen academic writing in spanish.

​SPAN 3050 - Intermediate Spanish Conversation/Composition

  • One of my first language classes, this course focused on improving spoken Spanish through practice with vocabulary, pronunciation, intonation and listening comprehension. 

SPAN 4090 - Comprehensive Writing in Spanish

  • SPAN 4090 develops advanced writing skills through the study of stylistics, grammar review, and the creation of paragraphs, short essays, and creative pieces in Spanish.

Culture and Literature Courses

SPAN 3130 - Survey of Spanish Literature

  • This course was taught in Santiago de Compostela, all in Spanish, and it introduced major literary movements, influential authors, and representative works of Spain from the beginning through the 17th century.

SPAN 3080 - The Hispanic World; Latin America

  • SPAN 3080, currently in progress, provides an overview of the culture history of Spanish-American countries, examining their political, social, economic, geographical and artistic development from the indigenous to present era.

SPAN 3980 - Directed Reading

  • An individualized study course in which we conduct directed readings on selected topics in Spanish literature, language, and culture. This was another study aboard course all taught in Spanish

PRTM 3500 - Pilgrimage and Tourism

  • PRTM 3500, currently in progress, this class is teaching about the similarities and differences of pilgrimage and tourism. We are currently analyzing the history of pilgrimage and its importance and the development of tourism.

Business Courses

SPAN 3160 - Spanish For International Business I

  • Taught by my mentor, this business class was mostly taught in Spanish which introduced commercial negotiations through the study of spoken and written business language, professional protocol, and the cultural environment of the Spanish speaking business world. It emphasized business vocabulary, cultural concepts, situational practice, and analysis of commercial texts.

SPAN 4160 - Spanish For International Business II

  • Built on SPAN 3160, We explored more advanced business vocabulary and deeper cultural, economic, and political concepts relevant to Hispanic markets. The main topics include global marketing, economic geography, banking, investment, management, and trade issues across Spanish‑speaking countries.

MGT 3030 -  Global Business

  • Is an overview of the global business environment, including institutional differences, foreign direct investment, and international trade. We learned how firms operate within the evolving system of global economic integration and the role stakeholders play in international markets.

ECON 3100 - International Economics

  • ECON 3100, currently in progress, is explaining international commerce with a focus on trade theory, exchange rates, and the institutional and legal context of global economic activity. This course also covers current policy issues and foundational concepts shaping international economic relations.

ECON 3250 -  Personnel Economics

  • ECON 3250, currently in progress, is the study of how firms use compensation systems and personnel practices to influence employee performance and workforce quality.  Piece‑rate vs. time‑rate pay, promotion systems, evaluation structures, mandatory retirement, and up‑or‑out rules are just some of the main topics we are currently working on. 

MKT 3020 - Consumer Behavior

  • This course explored how individual and group behavioral science concepts shape consumer decision making. In class we examine psychological and social factors influencing consumption, as well as how these insights guide marketing strategy and customer-focused business practices.
